New media art and art therapy on the public in museums/ galleries
Description
An essay is a stand-alone text, an end product of a research process on a topic of your own choosing related to philosophy of technology. It is NOT empirical or social-scientific research. You do not have to do experiments or interview people. It is a reflective and philosophically informed academic essay on technology. An academic essay presents a structured argument in order to reflect on your chosen subject matter.
Academic essay is not a piece of casual writing based simply on your personal opinions and beliefs, but a discussion between scholars: between yourself and authors of books, papers, and essays. The goal of the essay is to assert your informed own voice in a larger discussion.
To achieve this it is necessary that you are aware of the existing literature on your topic, and adhere to the formal framework of an academic essay. It helps if you start thinking about your essay topic as early as possible, as you will need time to actively seek relevant literature and read through it. Essays should follow a consistent style of citations and referencing and contain a bibliography of works cited. Please approach your teacher if you need assistance in citations and referencing.
Length of the essay should be between 2500 and 5000 words. There is a Word template for final essay available, please use it. You must use it because any attempts at being uniquely creative in formatting would only serve to cloud the clarity of the argument in your essay.
