Design a progressive eight phase training programme, selecting activities appropriate to the client. The recipient of the programme, their particular circumstances, objectives and the scope of the programme will be the student’s own choice. The progressive programme should clearly demonstrate the principles of FITT. You must use a variety of equipment and training systems appropriate to your client and their goal.

Part 1:

8 Phase Training Plan (~500 word equivalent)

Design a progressive eight phase training programme, selecting activities appropriate to the client.

The recipient of the programme, their particular circumstances, objectives and the scope of the programme will be the student’s own choice.

The progressive programme should clearly demonstrate the principles of FITT. You must use a variety of equipment and training systems appropriate to your client and their goal.

You plan should contain:

· A detailed overview of the eight-phase programme. This should be presented as a table on Excel or similar.

Your 8 phase plan should include FITT guidelines which meet the objectives of the athlete precisely.

It is suggested that a specific periodisation model is used

· 2 programme cards detailing workouts from across the eight phases.

Each card should allow the client to carry out one workout from a specific phase of the programme.

Your plan should be detailed, clear and be allow a client to follow the plan as you intend.

Programme cards should include for your athlete that include using appropriate exercises, timing and intensities.

Part 2:

Rationale for the 8 Phase Training Plan (1500 words).

Introduction (~300 words)

This will include a brief introduction to the client and a needs analysis of the activity.

Main Body (~1200 words)

You will provide a detailed rationale and justification of elements of your programme. Here you should use appropriate literature to discuss:

· Performance improvements expected through participation in the programme.

· Physiological adaptations expected through participation in the programme.

It is strongly suggested that the focus is on a small number of topics (e.g. periodisation style chosen, use of interval training and the use of dead lifts) rather than attempting to justify all the elements in your programme.

Peer-reviewed academic journals and academic texts, and National and International Policy documents should be used as resources.
