The appearance of the characters in the mosaic miracle of the loaves and fishes has a very Greco-Roman style in the shape of the face, clothing style and the gestures. The face shape and the expression that you see on his face is very similar to what you would find in other Greco-Roman styled mosaics, paintings, and sculptures of the time. The clothes are exactly what most think of when referring to that period. The loose-fitting togas that have boarders that are simple yet add beauty to the clothing. Even the sandals are depicted as something that you have always seen as being a Greco-Roman style.

Heavy lidded eyes and stoic faces show little emotion as to what is going on in the mosaic. The apostles are wearing the same colored robes whereas Jesus is wearing a crimson toga and has a golden halo around his head.

Crimson has always been a color that depicts royalty and importance all throughout the ages and the addition of gold also shows status. Jesus appears to be front and foremost also showing the sign of importance.

His hands being out to the sides touching the loaves and the fish show almost a god like air. Even though this mosaic does not show a lot of detail you are able to see that there is almost a submissiveness about the apostles as they hold out the food for Jesus to touch. The mosaic though lacks realism though you are able to tell the point or story that it is portraying.
