Letter of Reinstatement
A student who has been dismissed for failing to meet standards of academic progress may appeal the dismissal if there were rare and extenuating circumstances that contributed to the failure to meet the University standards.
If appropriate, complete the appeal for reinstatement form. Your submission should include:
• Verifiable documentation of mitigating circumstances that contributed to poor academic performance;
• How the circumstances have been overcome;
• A realistic plan for meeting the requirements to return to good standing; and
· Supporting documentation (e.g., legal documents, doctor’s certification, receipts, military orders, etc.).
We encourage students to outline the mitigating circumstances that contributed to the unsuccessful coursework. Students are welcome to address academic performance as a whole, including any areas they believe may be a cause for concern and how they have addressed those areas.
The appeal for reinstatement form, supporting documentation provided by the student and information pertaining to the student’s academic performance, including, but not limited to, academic history and tutoring notes, will be reviewed by the appeal committee.
The appeal committee makes the decision whether the appeal is approved or denied by evaluating whether the information presented demonstrates the student’s circumstances resulted in the poor academic performance, that the issue(s) has been overcome and that the student’s realistic plan shows the student is likely to be successful in the future by meeting minimum grade of a C in all courses while remaining in good academic standing.
Include a calendar document with timeframes that include studying, reading, review of NCLEX style questions using flashcards about 30 cards a day & online questions through UWorld.
Circumstances include increased work hours, lack of sleep, assisting family members exposed to COVID & how COVID routinely affected everyday life.
Create a persuasive & reassuring tone of failed academics and steps that will be taken to ensure continued dedication for success in the program that will lead to passing the NCLEX on the first attempt.
