The Honors Program
Submit a typed essay of at least 500 words explaining why you would like to be a member of the Honors Program.
The essay may address any reasons you have, but it should explain: (My answers are in ()) Be creative/ professional. Add substance and make this a full story. It should be so compelling that it’s accepted upon the first review.
1. Why you are interested. (affiliations, perks, and support transitioning to a 4-year college)
2. How your interest relates to your future plans. (Tying in #1 and the transition to a
4-year college and beyond. Guaranteed admission to area colleges)
3. Why you think being in the program would enhance your academic experience.
(Being able to get financial support in addition to other advisory and support is priceless.)

Benefits of joining the program:
Scholarship opportunities: Honors students receive at least one scholarship each semester provided they register for honors courses and earn a 3.5 semester GPA.
Faculty mentor for each student in the program.
Honors-sponsored social and cultural events throughout the year.
Special recognition at graduation.
Guaranteed admission to twelve area colleges and universities.
Student access to the Honors Center and designated honors study space.
