ACE in COVID-19 patients
Description
Write a manuscript about a clinical study. In this study the ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) protein serum concentration of 34 COVID-19 patients have been measured. The blood withdrawals were done at different time points in a daily manner.
We found very low ACE serum concentrations for the very ill intensive care unit patients (15 patients) at admission but not for the normal station COVID-19 patients (10 patients) or for the outpatients (9 patients, normal values).
During treatment the initially low ACE serum concentrations of the intensive care patients normalized from day to day. But it has not been possible to distinguish between the intensive care patient which survived COVID-19 and the ones which did not survive COVID-19 by looking at the ACE serum concentrations.
