Investigate whether the elements associated with short-term PTSS in COVID-19 military HCWs were also linked to long-term PTSS in military peacekeepers.

Issues and Challenges Confronting Military Medicine during COVID-19

A. Introduction

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic lacks precedence in numerous ways. Research conducted recently shows that military healthcare workers and other general healthcare workers (HCWs) suffer from mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). Previous studies have pointed out the chief elements associated with temporary PTSS in pandemic HCWs but limited information is available on factors that are linked with long-term PTSS. This case study conducted by company C attempts to make findings on military HCWs in relation to the trauma.

B. Objective

Investigate whether the elements associated with short-term PTSS in COVID-19 military HCWs were also linked to long-term PTSS in military peacekeepers.

C. External Analysis

I. Military peacekeepers that were affected by pandemic-related stress after deployment to a United Nations peacekeeping mission were incorporated in the study.

II. Post-traumatic stress was diagnosed using the military version post-traumatic stress disorder checklist.

III. Likely elements associated with post-traumatic stress syndrome were assessed by descriptive instruments.

IV. The relationship between these elements and post-traumatic stress syndrome was explored by performing a multiple linear regression analysis.

D. Internal analysis

I. The company’s model gave account for 50% of the variance in post-traumatic stress syndrome.
II. Other factors such as preparedness, age, recognition, support system, loneliness, employment, and relationship status were all majorly related to post-traumatic stress syndrome on a mean of three decades after deployment.
III. The most vital risk elements of post-traumatic stress syndrome were individual barriers to expose their encounters and state of employment.

E. Recommendations

Many elements associated with short-term PTSS in COVID-19 military healthcare workers were related to PTSS in peacekeepers. It is, therefore, an important suggestion that military healthcare workers be provided with support systems that encourage them to share their difficult encounters with other people. This may protect them from feeling lonely and also makes them bounce back after experiencing a crisis.

The general issue is that some military healthcare leaders are challenged to manage and provide support to military healthcare workers due to an increase in short-term PTSS during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Problem:
The problem is that some military healthcare leaders lack successful strategies to manage and provide support to military healthcare workers due to an increase in short-term PTSS during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Question:

What successful strategies do military healthcare leaders use to manage and provide support to military healthcare workers due to an increase in short-term PTSS during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The purpose of the case study:

The purpose of this case study is to explore the successful strategies that military healthcare leaders use to manage and provide support to military healthcare workers due to an increase in short-term PTSS during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Population:

In this case, the population will consist of peer-reviewed journal articles (reports or grey literature, communications if needed) findings/results, observations, communications that include successful strategies that military healthcare leaders use to manage and provide support to military healthcare workers due to an increase in short-term PTSS during the COVID-19 pandemic.
