• Program applying for

Master of Art in adult learning and leadership [ online program ]

• School applying for-

Teachers school, Columbia university

• Reason for applying to this program-

I’m the instructor for Accounting QuickBook operating and training at Follett Higher Education Corporation, the class is for the adult employee. I had 4 years of k-12 assistant teaching experience, but adult learning and corporate training are much different than kids learning. They have different learning environments, purposes, and motivations. They are totally different experiences. So I believe this program will benefit me a lot from designing the course and teaching techniques.

• Personal background:

I don’t have a very stand-out undergraduate GPA. I’m the first-generation college student in my family, My dad passed away when I was a sophomore in college, I had to work 3 jobs to support my tuition and family back then. It was hard for me to attend school full time and work over 40 hours a week. so my undergraduate GPA is not outstanding, anyway, I graduated.

But I never gave up on my study journey, I went back to school and studied educational psychology when I worked at middle school a few years ago, it helps me guide the students in the right direction in order to channelize a student’s abilities in the right direction. I also teach and help students in the TRIO Program every summer and volunteer to help international students every semester. I treat all students like my family. I completed a certificate in education leadership from Harvard University in 2019.

I am also taking courses on Coursera. I completed 5 courses and earned certificates for each course, the courses include teaching and self-development. I believe that it doesn’t matter how slowly I go as long as I do not stop, I will succeed one day. Learning keeps me busy and it helps me to spend time productively, it creates a stronger work-life balance.
