Assignment 2 : Strategic Management (Strategic Planning)

Further to your report, as a Corporate Strategy Manager, where you produced an internal and external analysis that provided a basis for strategic planning, being satisfied with your work, the CEO has asked you to conduct and develop the following:

• A competitive analysis of the organisation using Porter’s Five Forces model.

• A strategic plan based on the environmental analysis and findings of your report.

This will be presented to the Board of Directors and should include the following:

1. An introduction to the report providing an overview of business and the task at hand.

2. A competitive analysis. Applying Porter’s Five Forces model evaluate the competitive forces of your chosen business and the market sector it operates in (P3)

3. Devise a strategy on how to improve competitiveness in your chosen organization. Apply appropriate analytical tools (such as Boston Matrix, Stakeholder Analysis and Ansoff’s matrix) to devise a plan to improve competitiveness and market position (M3).

4. In order to help the business with its strategic choices and direction, devise a strategic planning proposal based on your findings showing the different types of strategic directions available to the organisation (P4)

5. Using the Balanced Scorecard together with other relevant theories, models, concepts, recommend the most appropriate strategy (P4)

6. Applying all the information and analysis you have gathered, produce a strategic management plan for your business with strategies, objectives and tactics. (M4)

7. Critique and interpret information and data applying environmental and competitive analysis to produce a set of valid strategic directions, objectives and tactical actions.

Provide an evaluation of the environmental analysis you researched, the competitiveness of the business’s in its market and carry out an assessment of the prospect success of the proposed strategy (D1).
