Visit the website (Links to an external site.). Work your way down to the ‘Hospital Compare’ tool and query performance outcomes for at least 3 hospitals. You may wish to view the hospitals which employ you or at which you’ve been a patient. It might be interesting to view hospitals which are competitors. In reviewing this data, please respond to the following questions.
1. What does this type of data collection mean to me in my current or future role as a clinician/administrator?
2. What does this type of data collection mean to me as a consumer of healthcare?
3. Do you anticipate reduced costs because of incentivized reimbursement for these measures? What are some ways that hospitals might “game the system”?
