Overview & Purpose:
This assignment is to provide a plan for the implementation of the needed security services at the case organization.
Upon completion, the student will be better prepared to plan for, research and prepare a comprehensive security services directory and then develop a plan to deliver the identified services in the organization over coming week, months and years.
Learning Outcomes:
After completing this assignment, the student will have the ability to:
• Explain the purpose of a security services directory and identify the type of elements that go into a security services directory
• Describe the process that is used to develop a security services directory
• Identify where the information security-related services are usually performed in an organization and what the usual reporting elements are for these services
• Develop a multi-layered plan to develop and deploy security services in an organization
Process:
In order to complete this assignment, the student will complete the following steps:
• Read the course case study and all supporting documents.
• Use these resource documents:
o NIST SP 800-35 – Guide to IT Security Services
o Lecture in D2L for ‘Creating a Security Service Directory” with accompanying slides
o Additional supplements posted in the D2L course management system
o Attend or view the planned course seminar on creating the security services master plan
