For this assignment, assume you are an independent sustainability consultant working for Universal Group plc who plan to build a multi-residential scheme. Universal Group want to achieve a high standard of quality and sustainability and thereby to achieve the best BREEAM rating they can for the project. You are tasked with providing advice on innovative and sustainable methods of construction throughout the build. You have been asked to research and report on one of these items. You can make assumptions about the type of construction you refer to in your answers.
Task
Produce a fully researched, referenced and well-structured professional report about an innovative and sustainable method of construction that could be used for the build. Your report should explain and analyse either a material, component or the complete element for use in one or more of the following areas of the construction process:
• Cladding to frames;
• Roofs;
• Floors and stairs;
• Finishes;
• Services.
Your report should:
• identify, explain, and critically assess, key issues relating to the following for the item you
have chosen:
o sustainability;
o environmental impact;
o innovation;
• use images, tables, charts and/or graphs where appropriate to convey information
• provide a conclusion that critically appraises the value you think the chosen item can bring to the scheme in particular and to the construction industry in general; state any assumptions you make in the report. Assumptions can be made as to any specific
