As a senior history student, explain the concept and purpose of a research proposal and what you believe it should include.

Research Proposal with Annotated Bibliography

There are many important periods in American history that led to the creation of the modern United States of America. Some would argue that without the establishment of the Jamestown settlement, the United States would exist. Many would point to the era of “taxation without representation” as the turning point in that raised ideas to establish the American ideals of a democratic republic. In my opinion, the most crucial event in American history is Nat Turner’s slave rebellion.

The rebellion put in motion many events that occurred over the next 30 years and set America on a path to equality. After the rebellion, slave owners became horrified and started creating and instituting laws that further ingrained the morally inept idea of human ownership of another human.

As a senior history student, composing a research proposal is a critical skill to have. It is to set the parameters for a research project of a specific topic. The concept and purpose of a research proposal is to develop a better understanding and knowledge base of the topic before presenting the research. As historical context change over time, the purpose of that research proposal provides a basis for further analysis.

It gathers the known facts and attempts to establish a brief guideline on how you will provide a narrative of the topic. The proposal offers a chance for you to communicate the importance of your topic and should be a clear demonstration of its significance and your competence to carry out the research.

selected the topic I chose because the causality of the American Civil never directly addresses the events of Nat Turner’s slave rebellion being one of the most important causes of the coming turmoil between the North and the South.
