In Chapters 10-11 of your Brooks book you read about the adolescent years. For this discussion topic I want you to discuss what the adolescent years were like for you and how you were parented during those years. Then explore what you might try to do the same or differently when you are a parent of an adolescent.
Answer some or all of the following questions:
Think back to when you were an adolescent. What were your biggest struggles with school, friends, puberty, etc?
What was your relationship like with your parents when you were an adolescent? Did you get along well? Did you communicate well? Were your parents aware of your feelings, thoughts, and activities during adolescence?
What do you wish your parents would have understood about you during that time?
What do you think your parents did well during that time? What could they have done differently to connect with you during those years?
What kind of parent do you think you will be like when you have adolescents? What do you want to make sure you do and don’t do as a parent when you have adolescents?
write in complete, coherent sentences for discussion posts. Write it in a Word document first so that you reduce the chance of losing what you wrote. Your posts need to be in paragraph form and spaced appropriately so that they are easy to read (however, sometimes copying and pasting from Word to Canvas does not turn out well so just fix the spacing as best you can once it is pasted into Canvas). Make sure to give credit to information you learned from your textbook or outside sources by using APA formatted in-text citations and include references at the bottom of your post.
It is not required that you answer every question in each Discussion. You may answer some or all of the questions as long as you meet the minimum word requirement.
