Discussion Thread: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (Daniel)
Using the DSM-5 chapter labeled “F43.10 Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder,” and then using the Schwartz book (The complex PTSD workbook), turn to chapter 4 and begin reading and reviewing “Daniel’s Story: Healing Invasive Symptoms.” Additional parts of his story are found on pp. 96, 97, 102, 107, 114, 121, and 124.
For this Discussion, match his story to the PTSD criteria in which you will give an example from his words about how he met the required one to two criteria under A, B, C, D, and E.
You do not have to write out the diagnostic criteria from the DSM, just what happened that he met the criteria. For example, under criterion A (exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violation in one or more of the following ways), write how you believe he met at least ONE of the four ways mentioned.
Under criterion B (presence of one or more of the following intrusion symptoms), show how he met at least ONE to FIVE of the symptom criteria.
Then do the same for criterion C, D, and E. Note that you do not need to write a ton of information, but break them down into statements or sentences of how the full criteria for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder could be met by this client, according to the DSM-5.
