Team Project RMI Case Study
Rockies Manufacturing Inc. (RMI) is a global manufacturing firm with its corporate headquarters located in Broomfield, Colorado and manufacturing plants spread throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. With over $3 billion in revenue this last year, RMI projects 15% growth in the next fiscal year. As one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, RMI strives to be best in class as a provider of instruments and technical equipment to the growing biogenetic industry.
RMI has for more than a decade been a global leader in the provision of complex and sophisticated instrumentation that has been standard equipment in biogenetics labs at major universities and corporations. But the company’s leading position is facing a major challenge from overseas firms that are beginning to provide a broader range of functionality than RMI’s offerings at highly competitive prices. Accordingly, the company wants leadership that can craft, evaluate, and implement innovative solutions that may include improving current product technology, developing new products, reducing costs, and exploiting new national and global markets.
As part of RMI’s five year strategic plan, the company is developing a formal leadership training program for its up and coming leaders. The purpose of this program is to equip these designated rising administrators with the leadership skills needed to lead high-performance teams and take RMI to the next level.
RMI has hired your company, Leadership Development, Inc., to design and deliver this training. You are meeting with your team today to design the program, which will be a three-day seminar.
Your task as a team is to prepare a PowerPoint presentation (10- 15 slides with notes) to RMI’s executive team for their input and approval. The presentation should:
1. Identify the leadership skills and content for the program
2. Design a schedule for the weekend
3. Convey an overview of your ideas for the seminar
4. Provide a broad vision for your program
5. Summarize your proposed content
6. Describe presentations and activities
You will need to communicate with the other members of your team outside the class using email and/or other forms of communication. As part of this planning team, all team members have equal say in the program’s design. As a team, you will decide who will create the various components of the slide presentation (e.g., 5 team members produce 2 slides each with notes for 10 slides). Each student should submit a copy of the leadership training program (PowerPoint Presentation) that was developed by the group.
note: If references are used in your PowerPoint Presentation, they must be properly cited in APA.
