A company’s business goals are at the highest level of strategy formation and should not be ignored in the process of defining a digital strategy (Kingsnorth, 2016). If you choose the wrong mix of campaign types that do not support a business’s overall goals, then that will create a misalignment in goals. Furthermore, objectives must tie to the overall business goals to allow for successful implementation.

KPIs and the way they are measured will define the future success of your digital marketing campaigns. Therefore, aligning business objectives and campaign objectives with KPIs and measurement will be the building blocks for a successful digital strategy.

Budget and Resource Requirements

In order to plan your digital marketing campaign, you need to allocate the correct amount of resources (i.e. both people and financial) to achieve your objectives. Most underestimate the amount of money required and underestimate the amount of specialization needed to create an effective digital marketing campaign. The diversity of skills is key because of the numerous tasks required to come together to form an effective digital marketing campaign.
