The Doctrine of the Trinity
The Trinity is at the heart of the Christian faith. It is central to the nature of God, salvation, and the reality of the church. Following your annotated bibliography and outline, this essay will have you study the historical development of the Trinity from the patristics until today.
Using the material (annotated bibliography and outline) you have already developed, write a 1,750–2,000-word essay on the Doctrine of the Trinity. The essay will be composed of two parts:
Part 1 (Evaluation)
Evaluate the development of the Trinity throughout this course. Include a discussion of the relevant people/councils in your response.
Part 2 (Discussion and Formulation)
Explain how you would discuss and formulate the Trinity today in the context of ministry, paying particular attention to the structure of the Trinity, God’s triune role in salvation/gospel, and the nature of Scripture. In other words, for the second section, answer, “Why does the doctrine of the Trinity matter?”
In addition to your textbook and other course reading materials, cite two to three scholarly sources.
