2) QUESTION: You are a nurse in a busy emergency department. It is November, and an unaccompanied man, in his sixties, arrives at the triage station. He is walking but obviously unsteady. He presents with a cough and fever of unknown origin. He is lethargic and has difficulty breathing, or answering your questions. You suspect he has influenza, but cannot rule out COVID-19.
What are your immediate responsibilities with regard to your safety, your client’s safety and the safety of others, in that order? Why is the order of safety important? Explain the precautionary principle and why, or why not, it would be followed in this situation.
