Investigate, identify, and use an appropriate inventory/quiz to determine own strengths and challenges within the framework of Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences.

Purpose:

This assignment provides the student with the opportunity to:

• apply Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI) as a framework to identify own personal strengths and challenges

• investigate, identify, and use an appropriate inventory/quiz to determine own strengths and challenges within the framework of Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences

• apply the information gained from the inventory/quiz to creatively display your three strongest intelligences

• present strategies to best support your own learning when learning in a classroom setting or learning independently

• apply APA7 format in the citation of a websites

Procedure:

1. Complete an online inventory/quiz based on Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligence. There are many free versions available online. Save/print these results for your own reference. Do NOT submit these results.

2. Use these results to creatively present your own top three multiple intelligences. In your assignment, you must make sure you provide specific examples representative of these strengths.

• For example, someone with a high score in musical intelligence could show: the instrument they play; the various types of music they listen to; and how music helps in how they learn.

• Examples from the work of previous students include: o rewriting a favorite poem which now includes descriptions of their strengths o a collage with photos or objects o a mobile or quilt o small boxes with pictures/objects which represent the individual’s strengths o a video of dancing and singing o Prezi/PowerPoint

3. Provide a list of strategies to assist in your learning when in a classroom setting or when working independently. Be sure to indicate the multiple intelligence the strategy is directed towards.

4. Include the reference for the online Multiple Intelligences inventory along with other resources you accessed in APA7 format. Giving only the website URL does not meet this criterion. 5. Apply the criteria contained in the Assessment Rubric to guide your work. Make sure all areas required are addressed before submitting your work.

6. PROOFREAD! PROOFREAD!! PROOFREAD!!! Grammarly is a great online tool available through the Learning Commons. Have someone proofread your work after you’ve proofed it yourself by reading your work out loud.

7. Submit the completed, proofread assignment as a PDF electronically to the Assignment 1 – Planning: Applying Multiple Intelligences folder under the Assignments tab.
