For this essay, you will investigate the impact of books on U.S. culture. Consider a novel or book from any era in U.S. history that made an impression on you.
Research this book on the Internet to discover how it played a part in shaping U.S. popular culture, how culture shaped the book in question or both. Your essay should answer the following:
What was the social or cultural climate at the time of its publication?
What was the initial critical reception? Did opinions of the book change over time?
At what point was the book most popular?
Does the book belong to a larger movement? Was it a reaction against a political moment or literary movement that came before?
Expectations for Essays are that they are:
Two pages in length minimum
Typed
12 point, Times New Roman font, and your margins are 1 inch all around
Double spaced
Formatted to include your name, my name, the date, and the course code in the upper left-hand corner
