Task details: Report Question
Identify an ethical issue/ethical dilemma or a challenging situation you
experienced in the context of your placement or project-based placement
and plan a response. Relate this to the principles, values and
responsibilities outlined in the ACWA code of ethics and other relevant
theoretical frameworks.
The report should:
• Clarify the context and main issues involved in the ethical issue or
dilemma or challenging situation.
• Identify agency policy, relevant ACWA ethical guidelines and
students own views.
• Apply an appropriate model for ethical decision-making.
Assignment objectives
Students are expected to demonstrate:
• An understanding of ethical decision making in practice, and an
understanding of what constitutes an ethical dilemma, ethical issue
or challenging situation and be able to distinguish between each of
these. Students will demonstrate the use of an appropriate ethical
decision-making model drawing from the professional literature.
There is an expectation that students will draw on key texts
provided and also source other material relevant for this task.
• Students will demonstrate the ability to analyse and reflect on an
ethical dilemma / ethical issue or challenging situation relating to
their placement or project-based placement, and formulate an
appropriate response. Students are expected to draw upon
relevant sources professional literature, the ACWA code of ethics,
policy, legislation etc. in undertaking this assessment task.
• Students will also demonstrate appropriate tertiary level skills in
referencing and written expression.
Learning Outcomes

framework in practice.
• S2. Practice assessment skills and identify and prioritise the
issues to be addressed in working with individuals, groups,
families or communities under supervision.
