Using your Essay Outline Worksheet, write a unified and clear essay in response to your controversial topic. State the topic and argue the positive or negative aspects of the topic. Refer to the works you have researched in your discovery of the topic by either directly quoting and paraphrasing the authors.
Build ethos in the essay by citing sources who are authorities on your subject. Use logos to structure your support rationale and reasoning. Use pathos at least once in your essay to garner support for your argument.
Acknowledge the opposition/counterargument in each of your paragraphs, point by point.
The essay format is as follows:
MLA format
no more than a 12 pt standard font (ie. Times New Roman)
must be typed and double-spaced (see example essay)
use parenthetical citations where appropriate
credit original author for any paraphrases
include a works cited page
500 words minimum
