This part of the assessment aims to evaluate your understanding in key aspects of mega project
management working with a real application. Each student is asked to work individually selecting a
megaproject of his/her own interest.
Indicative ideas are the following:
• Euro-tunnel
• London Olympics
• London array wind farm
Based on this, you are required to explore existing literature and provide a well written 1,500 words
report addressing the following aspects:
➢ Provide and discuss the 5 most important characteristics that distinguish this as a mega-project
➢ Discuss the financing structure of this project
➢ Comment on the performance of the project with respect to Scope, Schedule and Budget,
providing reasons for the experienced deviations.
➢ Who are the key stakeholders and what is your engagement plan?
➢ Examining retrospectively the events and incidents during the execution of the project, comment on the main risks that were present and recommend ways that these risks could have been mitigated.
➢ Can you distinguish elements of sustainable development in this mega-project?
Notes:
– The report should be written in the form of a technical report.
– Appropriate referencing is expected for all papers, reports, websites you decided to use.
– Reports should be written with 11pt Arial fonts, 1.5 line spacing, and margins of 2.5 in all sides of the paper. Word count should be included in the cover page.
