What do the people who read the economy from the centers of economic influence, the Federal Reserve Bank, Wall Street, the Labor Department or the White House or City Hall miss?

The Bronx Economy Project

Think about this borough, what’s happening, how people are managing, suffering, hustling, thriving, living during and after Covid?

What do we need to tell the world about this?

What do the people who read the economy from the centers of economic influence, the Federal Reserve Bank, Wall Street, the Labor Department or the White House or City Hall miss?

What do they not get?

What do we need to be able to tell a fuller, more accurate, live Bronx story? Whose voices should we hear?

What sounds should we hear?

What ideas need to get communicated to listeners?

Think these things out for a few minutes. Then post a few sentences or bullet points on whose voices, whose experiences we need to capture to tell the story of the economy in the Bronx during Covid and at this moment. In class we mentioned for example, the Mr. Softee guy and a coquito cart man and a nurse. Write out a few sentences of your thoughts a few Bullet points.
