This means that your discussion must be underpinned / supported with the relevant literature / evidence base.

Introduction: 150 words maximum

• Overview of how your project will be implemented. remember you are not writing a murder mystery novel so be specific and concise. For example, you may wish to include the Leadership, Project and Change management theories (and cite them) that you will apply; what you plan to achieve and how you plan to prospectively evaluate your project. Look at the reading you have undertaken to date for examples of what to include in your introduction.

Aim and objectives: 150 words maximum

• The project aim should inform the reader about the main intention of the project.
• The objectives should be ‘SMART’ and provide the reader with a clear insight into what you are hoping to achieve. (Think ahead about how you may evaluate the objectives.) Please state the objectives as bullet points.

Discussion of Project Implementation

Plan: 500 words maximum
Here you will need to state how you plan to introduce the project so, consider the following points (these are listed in no specific order, so you must plan and organise your ideas and writing to flow logically):
• Identify the Stakeholders and their importance to the project – see national UK policies on patient and public involvement and other relevant literature that supports the engagement of stakeholders
• You may wish to use a SWOT analysis grid – keep it simple and concise as the words here are included in the total word count. Consider how you plan to mitigate any threats in the SWOT analysis / Forcefield analysis if used.

• State how you will communicate your plan to the relevant parties

• Offer an indication of timeline of implementation of the stages of your project and when it will end? Do not give a description, instead use a Gannt chart or any other type of project timeline and place that in the appendix, correctly labelled.

• Which change management model will you use and what stages of the model apply here at this point of the project implementation (e.g., Lewin’s Freeze)

• Which leadership / management style you adopt at this point of the implementation (e.g., autocratic)

Having discussed the Plan above, in this section you move to discussing how you will implement the project, i.e., actually do it

• What stages of the change management model apply here (e.g., Unfreeze, Refreeze)
• Who will be delegated to undertake the aspects of your project and why
• What role, if any, will the stakeholders play?
• Will the leadership / management approach used at the start of the project still be applicable at this point or will you consider adopting another one? Why?
• How will you mitigate any threats identified above, if relevant here?

Study: 500 words maximum

Having implemented your plan in the section above, this section is where you offer a supported / evidence-based discussion of how you plan to prospectively evaluate your aim and objectives.

Act: 500 words maximum

• Do you think you will achieve your intended aim? How will you know? Are there any other measures you may use?

• Based on your hypothetical project and its prospective evaluation what would you do differently and why? E.g., Would you engage with stakeholders earlier than you had planned? Would you offer more training, to whom? When? How?

• Importantly, does your project fulfil any policy / guidance / quality improvement directives? If so which ones?
• Who will you report your findings to, how and when?

Conclusion: 200 words maximum

• This will be a summary of your project implementation. No new information should be presented here.
