Final Research Proposal Poster
You will create a poster based on your proposed research outline. This should be a standalone document. All pertinent information should be included in this virtual poster. The challenge of this assignment is to take a large amount of information and present it in a succinct manner. The grading rubric can be found below.
You MUST use the PowerPoint template provided on Canvas to create the poster. You may change the colour scheme, the spacing and the design of the poster. However, please do not adjust the locations of each section or the font size (titles, headings and body of the poster) too much as they are in the best formatting for size and logical order.
Your final research proposal poster will include:
• One PowerPoint slide
Cite relevant published reports, best practice guidelines for health professionals and peer-reviewed articles to support your viewpoints (minimum of 3 credible websites and 8 current {< 5 years} peer-reviewed articles). Please cite references according to APA format.
Poster Title – Include your poster title, student number and student name
Introduction – Provide an introduction to your research topic. Include relevant epidemiology, pathophysiology, and background information related to your intervention and outcome.
Literature Review – Provide a summary of what is currently known in the research area and what is NOT known in the research area. Describe why it is important that research is done to address this and find out. Provide a detailed and critical review of the existing research and identify any gaps in the currently literature.
Research Question – Clearly state the research question (in PICO format). Describe the population, intervention, comparison groups if applicable and the outcome (PICO) in a table in further detail (dose and frequency for intervention, outcome measurement tool/scale)
Methods – Provide an overview of your study design. Include the justification for your selection of the design. Describe the study setting and participants. The description of the participants should include the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Provide a summary of how the participants will be recruited.
Describe the measures that will be used in terms of the exposure and outcome variables and the intervention (if this is appropriate and applicable for your study). Provide a description of how the relevant threats to internal validity related to study design will be handled (Example: Lost to follow-up, confounding, recall bias, etc).
Statistical Analysis – Describe the types of variables that will be used in the analysis of your proposed study. State how descriptive and inferential statistics will be performed.
Ethical Considerations – Describe any potential ethical issues that might arise in your study. Ensure that you describe potential benefits and/or risks for participants taking part.
Conclusion – Summarize the gaps you identified in the review of the literature, the type of study that will be carried out to fill this gap, and the importance of the proposed research.
Charts, diagrams and/or photos – Provide appropriate charts, diagrams/images to your poster; ensure you have the appropriate permissions and reference appropriately
