Essay assignment
Important: Double Space the Essay!
Recent polls found an amazing fact: 30 percent of Americans view public space as a more attractive place than their own homes. These people are no longer concerned with the size of their homes since they are more interested in interaction with the public rather than enjoyment of their private space.
Today, after suffering from the pandemic, we yearn for the opportunity to freely experience public space again despite negative experiences in the past. Now that we are finally “free”, will it be the same or will our current experiences change the way we interact with the outside?
Do you view public space as friendly or hostile? Consider whether your personal experiences and the fact that we are still suffering from the consequences of the pandemic might affect your or other people’s general attitudes.
Support your points with clear examples from personal experience and from Staples’s “Black Men and Public Space.”
Be warned that this is not a “discrimination” essay. It is more of an essay where you provide examples of human encounters with public space.
