Using the same professional or personal area you chose for the mid-summative assessment in Module 03, choose at least one concept from Modules 04, 05, and 06 and briefly explain how these concepts might be useful in improving your communication in that area. Again, your paper should be about 1 page in length and you will use this information in your final project paper for Module 07.
Using the same examples from the mid-summative assessment, if you currently work as a hairstylist, you might discuss the importance of intercultural communication in your job (Module 04) because your clients may vary in age, gender, race, and ethnicity. You might explain how using some of the visual techniques like contrast or exaggeration of scale (Module 05) could be used on posters displayed in the shop in order to grab the customer’s attention and encourage them to try new hair styles. Lastly, you could use the pathos strategies (Module 06) of idol to get the clients to purchase specific hair products or virtue to encourage them to donate their hair to “Locks of Love.”
If you volunteer at an animal rescue organization, you might want to gather ethnographic narratives (Module 04) in order to gain a better understanding of why individuals adopt shelter animals and the subsequent joy the animals bring to their lives. You might want to create an installation art piece (Module 05) that brings awareness to the ongoing problem of animal overpopulation. Finally, you might want to create a series of social issue posters to encourage individuals to adopt older pets from the shelter (Module 06).
