SECTION Outline – QATAR WORLD CUP (WC) LEGACY – OUR EXPERIENCE (2500 words)

Introduce

 Introduce the Qatar WC legacy original plan, aims and vision – from 2011/12
 Outline the local experiences – structure content across the key areas identified in the Legacy framework (see the adapted framework below box)

1. The Process

Describe the WC organizational process set up – WC delivery and legacy committee of Qatar, membership, purpose, clearly describing the two aspects – delivery and legacy: and including overview of 2021-2024 the WHO-Qatar partnership on WC sport and health legacy across 3 pillars including health promotion

2. The activities and Implementation in Qatar

Describe what has been delivered as part of the WC legacy using the categories / areas of work from the framework and some sense of timelines; use tables to list, and few examples to provide more details on 2-3 legacy activities: (e.g., Generation Amazing, B4development, urban design and infrastructure)

(1) Infrastructure & Systems
(2) HPR – across education, programmes and policy in PA, diet/nut, tobacco, alcohol, mental health, other
(3) Community engagement – describe the processes undertake
(4) Capacity/training – describe/summarise
(5) Evaluation – plans and approaches
(6) Sharing learning – describe Knowledge Transfer (KT) events & activities

3. Report results/impact
Using available reports and data summarise what is known about the impact of the WC – use the SC Impact Study Edition 1 (provided in resources) and note that Edition 2 is underway and will provide final report on hosting the WC in early 2023
Note that the reporting on WC legacy will require longer term efforts and tracking and reporting – potentially out to 5-10 years post 2022
