Does Abortion Really Reduce Crime?

7) Literature Review Paper: You will write one literature review paper. The topic is up to you.

All students are required to complete a “review of academic research” paper in order to pass this course. Topic proposals are made with a working title and reference page via Moodle.

Original work is required. Papers used for other courses will not be accepted and will be considered plagiarism leading to a failing grade and disciplinary actions. The research paper should be double-spaced and include proper citation/reference methods consistent with those of the American Psychological Association (APA). Cover and reference pages are required but should not be included in the 8-10-page length. Be sure to utilize scholarly research sources on your topic and APA formatted referencing of the research articles. A minimum of five scholarly peer-reviewed journal research articles should be utilized as your primary sources, but more is highly recommended. In addition to five journal articles, you may also utilize books and government publications as secondary resources to supplement your literature review paper. Be sure to use the minimal five peer-reviewed academic journal articles as your primary resources.

Law journals are NOT considered academic research. Citations with (n.d.) or no date as a publication is not credible for a literature review paper.

Be sure to limit the amount of direct quotes from academic research. Summarizing the research is different from long direct quotes that take up most of the writing. If you are quoting an author(s) or providing statistics, be sure to cite with the author’s last name(s), year of publication, and the page number from the given journal.

There should be six sections to the paper-

1. Cover page with a Title and your name (DOES NOT COUNT TOWARD PAGE TOTAL)

2. Abstract (100 words or less summarizing the paper)

3. Introduction (1 page)

4. Use of major headings (all caps in bold) and subheadings (no caps, in italics) throughout the paper indicating a review of the given research (4-6 pages in length)

5. Conclusions and Implications of the research (1-2 pages in length)

6. Suggestions for future research needed to expand our knowledge of the given topic (1-2 pages in length)

7. Reference page in APA format (DOES NOT COUNT TOWARD PAGE TOTAL) *should not include websites or DOI #s

Anything cited in your paper should appear as a full citation on the reference page and anything on the reference page should be cited somewhere in your paper in APA format, *Improper APA citation will receive reduced points.
