Benefits and Drawbacks
As you saw from your reading in this module. intermodal transportation has many benefits and is used to reduce the overall cost of transportation.
In addition to cost, another major consideration is to balance the level of service that the customer demands. For example, using air freight you could move a 100-pound bag of coal from origin to destination very quickly, however, the cost of transportation would be much more than the value of the cargo, so this simply would not make sense.
For this discussion, research one benefit and one drawback of intermodal transportation. Define and outline the benefit and drawback, and suggest ways to reduce the impact of the drawback that you researched.
