The principle of supremacy within European Union law has been central to the European Union achieving its aims. The Court of Justice of the European Union has been central in the development of this principle.
Using two examples, critically discuss the nature and scope of the principle of supremacy.
Your answer might include consideration of some of the following points:
– the nature and application of different sources of EU law
– the doctrine of direct effect
– the notion of indirect effect
– the principle of Member State liability
