The purpose of this assignment is to develop an understanding of an information technology “Event” that was “in the news” within the last 12 months, by providing an overview of the “Event” and whether there is, or might be a need for, an information policy pertaining to this “Event”, as well as whether there are, or might be any ethical outcomes due to this “Event”. Please note that while events in the last 12 months are preferred, you may use older events if relevant.

 

The “Event” is defined as any current (last 12 months) information policy legislation or current (last 12 months) news topic related to an information technology issue, which may be about the need for legislation or the development of new legislation related to the information technology “Event”.

Note: Students taking the class as a Global Citizen course must select a topic with a global/international/intercultural focus.

Describe the “Event” and discuss the importance of the “Event” as you view it and the significance of the “Event” to information/technology policy or possible future information/technology policy;
Go to www.congress.gov to determine if there is a law addressing the “Event”. If there is a law, describe the law and discuss the significance of the law as it relates to the “Event”. If you have searched congress.gov and believe there is no law addressing the “Event”, explain your search and conclusion;
Discuss any stakeholders that may be impacted by this “Event”;explain how they are involved or impacted by this “Event”;
Discuss any ethical outcomes you perceive relating to this “Event” using one or two workable ethical theories introduced by Quinn; if you do not perceive any ethical outcomes relating to this “Event” then discuss your views regarding no ethical outcomes.
