A. EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE (EBP) SYSTEMATIC REVIEW PAPER (40 POINTS)
The purpose of this paper is for students to engage in understanding the empirical evidence
that supports the use of EBPs when working with individuals within mental health and
healthcare settings. The paper will be submitted in 3 phases; the rubric can be found in
appendix A.
- Phase I (12 points)
Students will select an EBP for a client population that is of interest to the student (0
points)
Students will describe the selected intervention, including the client group that would
benefit from the EBP (5 points) - Students need to provide a list of library search engines used and a list of search terms
(Including combinations of terms) to gather data for the paper (2 points)
Students will include a reference list in APA format of the resources used to describe the
intervention they chose, and the papers they will use for the literature review in phase II
(5 points)
- Phase II (15 points)Students are expected to conduct a thorough literature review of the empirical research
on the EBP. - Students are expected to summarize research findings from the past five years. For each
study
a. Examine the quality of the studies (quasi-experimental vs. experimental research)
b. Samples populations
c. Intervention characteristics (where modified versions of the intervention used)
d. Degree of impact of intervention on the primary and secondary outcomes
ยท All work submitted during phase I is to be included in this submission. If any comments
were provided students will also include modifications and corrections addressing those
comments. - Phase III (13 points)
Students must develop a table that summarizes all of the information about each study. - Students will identify gaps in the research and make recommendations for future
research on the EBP (e.g. client outcomes, new sub populations etc.).
All work submitted during phases I and II is to be included in this submission. If any
comments were provided students will also include modifications and corrections
addressing those comments.
Papers should be between 8-10 pages long and must follow APA 7th edition. Title page and
