Complete this week’s Learning Activity to prepare for the Assignment.

Using the same group scenario you identified in Unit 6, continue to build on your work with the group and with Sam. The group scenario gave you a framework for your group and your client Sam. Using a group theory as a guide, develop a plan for one group session. During your group session, Sam shares that (s)he has relapsed. Sam reports drinking six alcoholic drinks the previous weekend. Sam indicates that sharing this information with the group was hard and (s)he is afraid what will happen to them. Sam also states “This is an awful waste of time. There is no hope of me staying sober.”

As the group leader your facilitation, leadership, and guidance will guide the group’s reaction to Sam’s disclosure. As you consider your response to the relapse admission, it is essential to examine the legal, ethical, and socio-cultural aspects group counseling and of Sam.

Project directions – Following the specifics of your group scenario from Unit 6 and the case study of Sam (that you developed in Unit 6) respond to the following questions.

Develop a group plan using a group theory as a guide. Be sure to clearly identify your selected theory and why you chose this theory for your group.
