Describe the biological and physiological aspects of the health problem and potential chemical treatments or pathways that are affected.

Description

Instructions

1. Choose a health problem in the human population. Some examples include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer of a specific organ, an infectious disease, etc.

2. Describe the biological and physiological aspects of the health problem and potential chemical treatments or pathways that are affected.

3. Discuss the natural progression of chronic diseases, or the natural history of infectious or exposure-related illnesses.

4. What are the potential outcomes of the disease (recovery or death), and what leads to those potential outcome(s)?

MAKE SURE:

Successfully selects an appropriate health issue and demonstrates all of the following:

● A known disease, condition, or health problem is selected.

● The topic is defined and manageable (i.e. lung cancer vs. cancer in general or Type II diabetes vs. all variants of diabetes).

Successfully describes the biological and physiological aspects of the health issue by demonstrating all of the following:

● The specific pathophysiology of the health issue is provided (i.e. involved organ, body system).

● All of the related biological and physiological manifestations of the health issue re addressed (signs and symptoms related to the health issue).

● All information is supported with relevant sources and credible evidence.

Successfully describes the chemical treatments or pathways affected by the health issue by demonstrating all of the following:

● Various evidence based chemical treatments (two or more), or affected pathways are provided, including a detailed and specific discussion of each.

● All of the chemical treatments or pathways are supported with relevant and credible sources.

Successfully describes the natural progression and natural history of the health issue by demonstrating all of the following:

● Utilizes an evidence-based model to describe the natural progression and history of the health issue.

● All opinions provided are supported by credible and relevant sources Successfully discusses the potential outcomes of the disease and what leads to those outcomes by demonstrating all of the following:

● Addresses various (more than two) outcomes related to the specific mhealth issue.

● Provides the prognosis and identifies one or more related biological, social, environmental, or behavioral variables as related to the health issue.

● All opinions provided are supported by credible and relevant sources.
