1. Are you aware of the Trust guidelines for the Identification and Treatment of Hypoglycaemia in Adult Patients in Hospital?

Yes to prevent and improve inpatient management of diabetes thus improving care for patients.
Also not to omit insulin injection if due after hypoglycaemia episode

2. Do you attend yearly update training in the management of hypoglycaemia? If yes, please give details of the training you had

Yes it is organised yearly, but I hardly get time off to attend training

3. Given the opportunity what training would you like to attend?

Insulin titration
Different types of anti-diabetic medication and how they work
Technology and diabetes
Eating with diabetes and their well being

4b. Can you tell me of any actions you take, when caring for a patient with diabetes, to avoid hypoglycaemia’.
To act quickly before it get worse
To monitor blood glucose levels every 4 hours
To know the type of medication the patient takes

4. Can you list 2 important factors from the trust guidelines you can apply to your care of the patient, with diabetes, who is at risk of hypoglycaemia?

5. Please list the different interventions you have used or have observed others using, in managing patient with diabetes who are at risk of
hypoglycaemia or are experiencing a hypoglycaemic episode

6. Are there any precipitating factors for inpatient hypoglycemia that staff should pay more attention to?

Renal disease
Peripheral neuropathy

7. A part from the medical effects of hypo glycaemia in patient, what causes can non-medical effects have on patient?
