For your first critique, you are not writing a summary of your article – you are expected to analyze and critique the research study, using APA style.
Critique each section of your article as broken down by Kazdin –
Does each section support the findings and conclusions of the others?
Does the author clear about their biases and conflicts of interest, if any?
How might the authors be clearer in their writing? Do you feel, after reading the paper, that there are concerns about the methods used or the population studied that were not addressed in the conclusions of the paper?
What could the authors have done to improve their paper for the reader?
Have your page set up, in-text citations and references in APA format. Do NOT include the questions in the paper, but do make sure you answer all of them.
Your paper should answer the following questions: Identify if your article is qualitative or quantitative. Identify what the hypothesis was and the method used to test it. Identify what population was studied and the ways they were recruited for the study.
Break the paper into its component parts: abstract, introduction, methods, results and discussion. Give a quick critique of each – was it clearly written? did it give you all the information you needed? what could have been added or subtracted to make a clearer paper? Did the author(s) discuss their own affiliations and biases? Are the references up to date and relevant to the paper topic? APA EDITION 7TH FORMAT
