Conflict transformation views peace as centered and rooted in the quality of relationships. This includes both face-to-face interactions and the ways in which we structure our social, political, economic, and cultural relationships. In this sense, peace is a “process-structure,” a phenomenon that is simultaneously dynamic, adaptive, and changing.
In essence, rather than seeing peace as a static “end-state,” conflict transformation views peace as a continuously evolving and developing quality of relationship.
It is defined by intentional efforts to address the natural rise of human conflict through nonviolent o approaches that address issues and increase understanding, equality, and respect in relationships.
Within the speech you will analyze the assumptions, reactions and results of the conflict within our society. Apply Rummel or Pondy Model to your conflict.
Re-frame the conflict in ways that would make it transformative for all parties involved (which may require some imagination and critical thinking about resolutions and negotiations). Think of how the conflict has power or climate issues impacting it and create a solution to balance power and/or make the climate promotive.
