Part of the reason why I feel poverty is so chronic in America is because for many it’s invisible thus there really hasn’t been a systemic Public Policy solution.
However, if you go out at night to any downtown and see the tent cities or visit the homeless shelters overcrowded with families or go to a social service agency on a Monday and have to wait half the day for services- emergency food stamps, let alone wait in an emergency care facility to be treated for mental health issues-then you know deeply and intimately the face of poverty, how it stretches its tentacles around you in a choke grip and you can barely breathe to get out from devastating impact.
