What specifically is effective about them? How do they contrast with other examples that are less effective?

Choose two or three examples of “good” academic writing from “Hooks and Sinkers” and “Show and Tell.” Here, “good” can mean stylish, engaging, thought-provoking, creative, effective, or otherwise impressive according to Sword’s criteria–and your own.

You might even examine a passage of Sword’s own writing here. No matter which examples you examine, consider the following general questions as you explain what makes these examples better than others:

What draws you to these examples?

What specifically is effective about them?
How do they contrast with other examples that are less effective?

Your response should include direct quotes from at least two of the required chapters. You may quote Sword and/or any of the authors she cites.
After each quote, use parenthetical citations of the MLA variety.
