Write at least 100 words on 2 national nursing research priorities and discuss how these priorities relate to your PICOT questions :At least 1 reference for the national nursing priorities site is needed.

Description

Your nursing-related forward PICOT questions may drive other assignments throughout this course. Be sure your PICOT questions are of interest to you, are nursing-related (do not require a provider order), and have a nursing intervention(s). The PICOT question outcome must be an “unknown” (i.e. not an existing standard, best practice, etc).

Write 2 nursing-related forward therapy/intervention PICOT questions and label the segments P, I, O, (and C, and T if you included the comparison and time components). These questions should be related to an issue that interests you and/or may be related to your work environment. Please write your PICOT questions as grammatically correct sentences. Be sure to include NINR as a reference if your PICOT is from their priorities.

Write at least 100 words on 2 national nursing research priorities and discuss how these priorities relate to your PICOT questions. At least 1 reference for the national nursing priorities site is needed.

NOTE:

NINR will not specifically list “priorities” – you will need to explore the website and see what grants, highlights, strategic plan, etc. issues are referenced to infer priorities.

Example on how to document research priorities for a PICOT question on orthopedic pin infections: “According to the National Institute of Nursing Research Strategic Plan (pg. 17), preventing illness and promoting health is a research priority. This includes preventing infection and educating patients and nurses on the proper way to clean pin sites and how often cleaning should be done.

Without adequate care of the pin sites on an external fixator, infections can arise. Deep tissue infections and osteomyelitis can occur in up to 4% of cases due to improper cleaning, or no cleaning at all (Fragomen et al., 2017). With infections like these, other complications can occur, including loss of limb or death from sepsis.”
