Identify, compare, and apply theoretical approaches to interventions.

A Collaborative Approach to Disciplinary Practices

After reading The Framework for Effective School Discipline, choose at least one of the three theoretical frameworks discussed (PBS, SEL, and/or RJ) and create a behavioral intervention addressing Tiers 1, 2, and 3.

Objectives Assessed:

Identify, compare, and apply theoretical approaches to interventions.
• Create multi-tiered behavioral interventions.
• Synthesize information from select sources (NASP).
• Evaluate data gathering tools/techniques.

Learning Outcomes

1. Define the behavior(s) being targeted by the intervention.

a) What is the target behavior OR cluster of behaviors with the same function that you are targeting?
b) When does it occur?
c) What does it look like?
d) How often does it occur?
e) How long does it last?

2. List and describe what data gathering tools/ forms you would use to answer (a-e) in question 1 (see above)

3. Name and describe the theoretical approach (PBS, SEL, and/or RJ), or combination thereof; that you are referencing. Explain your rationale. How does this approach increase the effectiveness of your intervention?

4. Explain using a figure or table, how the intervention will be applied at each Tier.

Note:

You can use the Figure titled: Effective Disciplinary Framework, illustrated in the document as reference.
