IT TAKES A VILLAGE PROJECT
The origin is unknown, but the proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” is a widely known. Raising a child is difficult and points to the need for all of us to care for the children. Thinking about the information in the textbook, create a PowerPoint describing how external supports can help parents and support the healthy development of children. You will provide statements and examples for each of the systems below:
Schools
How can schools support parents? Describe at least 3 ways and at least one personal example.
Family/Community
How can relatives, friends, or neighbors support parents? Describe at least 3 ways and at least one personal example.
Local Government
How can local governments help support child health and well-being? Describe at least 3 ways and at least one personal example.
Employers
How can parents’ jobs/employment support them as working parents? Describe at least 3 ways and at least one personal example
For each system you must:
First, refer to at least one piece of information from the textbook.
Give textbook reference and the module the information came from. You can provide any theory, research, or information from the Links to Learning embedded in the textbook (see the example at the bottom). This point of reference can be used more than once.
Second, you must provide three statements on:
How you think the system could promote the healthy development and well-being of children.
Third, you must provide at least one personal example:
A specific experience of yours, of other people that you know, other people that you have heard of, or real life examples that you have read about
