Key Assessment Information

This assessment requires you to;
-Carry out some primary research of your own using parliament’s website and demonstrate this in your essay (e.g. through the use of tables or graphs to demonstrate empirical findings) (www.parliament.uk)
And/or

-Integrate examples from parliamentary proceedings (e.g. debates, committee sessions, parliamentary questions) in a systematic and detailed way
Note: this may depend on the question you select from the above list. See me if you are unsure.

It also requires you to:

-Demonstrate a clear understanding of key parliamentary studies concepts or theories related to your question
-Show that you can link these concepts to real life examples of parliamentary practice
-Develop a clear argument which is sustained throughout the piece and provides a clear answer to the question.

 

Structure of the assessment
There is no prescribed structure for this assessment. You are free to choose a structure which fits appropriately with your answer to the question. This may be:
– A standard essay format with introduction, main arguments and conclusion
– The use of sub-headings to highlight different stages of your argument
– A research project style format with a methodology section (this will be needed if you are carrying out some systematic primary research)
