Briefly explain the terms diversity and inclusion and how they relate to the context of Australian schools (consider State, National or International perspectives in relation to legislation and documentation).
Describe some specific needs that a student from another culture may experience when beginning their studies at an Australian school. Outline, and explain, one teaching strategy, that would help to support a student from another cultural group, to ensure they feel included in the school/classroom environment.
Describe one physical, sensory, cognitive or behavioural need that you may encounter in your future teaching. (For example, Blindness or vision impairment, Deaf or hard-of hearing, Cerebral palsy, Spinal cord injury, Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Acquired brain injury).
Describe the disability/condition and the characteristics of the chosen condition and outline some of the challenges they may encounter in the classroom. Develop two teaching strategies to meet the needs of your chosen learner and explain why you have chosen these strategies?
